Gina Saka, LMT, is an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT) with Yoga Alliance, bringing 19 years of experience and over 6,000 hours of classroom instruction to her students. She brings a compassionate, trauma-informed approach to her yoga instruction, creating a safe and supportive space centered on nervous system regulation and stress reduction.
Why Does Yoga Regulate the Nervous System?
Yoga directly engages the parasympathetic nervous system, the body’s “rest and digest” mode. Through mindful movement, conscious breathing, and focused awareness, yoga calms an overactive sympathetic nervous system that drives the “fight or flight” response. In our sessions, we emphasize guided breath work called Pranayama. These techniques activate the vagus nerve, lower heart rate, reduce cortisol, and signal safety to the brain. This process relieves chronic mental tension, anxiety, and physical stress, supporting deep restoration and allowing your body to self-regulate.
As a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT), I work with the physical signs of stress every day. A trauma-informed yoga practice enables you to regulate your nervous system from the inside out. Together we bridge the gap between mind and body, providing a complete pathway to long-term structural alignment, stress relief, and deep somatic healing.
